Verna Ruth Pickett Morgan, 91, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lucy Bowles Pickett. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include four sons, Leonard (Shirley) Morgan of Glasgow, James Morgan of Boston, Ky., Richard Morgan of Bloomfield, and Michael (Jan) Morgan of Glasgow; two daughters, Shelby (Rondal) Bush of Glasgow, and Carolyn (Bryant) Sturgeon of Cave City; 10 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Tina (David) Burton of Westmoreland, Tenn., Douglas (Patricia) Bush and Kelly (Janet) Sturgeon, all of Glasgow, Jamie (Brandon) Shirley of Cave City, Chris (Stephanie) Morgan of Louisville, Angela Durham of Chaplin, Ky., Scott Morgan and Kasey Morgan of Boston, Ky., Sara (Kelly) Russell, John Michael (Kara) Morgan, Jeff Hale and Kelly (Chris) Pinkel, all of Glasgow; eight great-grandchildren, Quentin Burton, Cody Bush, Kelsey Sturgeon, Tyler Shirley, Logan Durham, Molly Durham, Bailey Morgan and Madlyn Morgan; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Morgan; one daughter-in-law, Virginia Mills Morgan; one step-granddaughter, Ginger Beckner; three sisters, Mattie Pickett, Mae Crawford and Ada Polson; three brothers, Paul Pickett, Raymond Pickett and Hall Pickett; one half-sister, Mamah McCoy; three half-brothers, Harry Pickett, Willie Pickett and Amos Pickett.
