Duane A. De Vega was born May 10, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to Anderson Town in Washington, NJ. His home of record is Washington, NJ.
He entered the US Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant (SGT). De Vega had been with the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam since May 1968, his second tour of duty in Vietnam.
De Vega was killed in action on February 11, 1969, in South Vietnam. Army officers said that the soldier was found mortally wounded on a Saigon street.
Army officers personally notified De Vega's wife, Karen, of her husband's death. The couple were married in December 1967, and had a 5-month old son, Troy. De Vega was also survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. De Vega, and his sister, Mrs. Rene Butler, all of Brooklyn.
