Virginia Faye Rysdam, 87, of Drakesville, Iowa passed away on January 31, 2024 at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was born on February 26, 1936 in Davis County, Iowa to Gerald and Mildred Osing Grosvenor. She attended rural schools in Davis County through eighth grade and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1953. She married her high school sweetheart, James Rysdam, September 21, 1952 at the Savannah Christian Church with Quentin Johnson officiating. James passed away on April 14, 2014.

Virginia worked as a nurse's aide at the Bloomfield Care Center and the Davis County Hospital. She also enjoyed jobs with Keith's Foods, Everco, and Lee's Photography. In her 50's she obtained her real estate license and became a real estate broker until her retirement. She was a member of the Board of Realtors, Drakesville United Methodist Church, and volunteered for the Bloomfield Welcome Center and Davis County Old Soldiers and Settlers Reunion in Drakesville.

James and Virginia operated Rysdam Pumpkin Patch east of Drakesville for 24 years. They hosted several tours for children and always sent each one home with a pumpkin of their own. Virginia loved her family and spending time with all of them. She was a wonderful cook and her pies could not be duplicated; cooking and baking pies for her family gave her much joy over the years. Virginia also enjoyed taking care of her yard, canning produce from the garden, reading, and playing games. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by seven children, Vicky (Rick) Piper of Bloomfield, Iowa, Mike (Diana) Rysdam of Drakesville, Marla (Juan) Caceres of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mark (Lois) Rysdam of Drakesville, Bonny Frauenholtz of Rockwall, Texas, David (Karen) Rysdam of Phoenix, Arizona, Lori (Bob) Reynolds of Ottumwa, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, Natalie (Chris Rachford) Piper, Eric (Angie) Piper, Janice (Mitch) Jones, Elizabeth (Andy) Baughman, Sandra (Kelly) Foster, Kevin (Morgan) Caceres, Melehia (Derek) Kopp, Lindsey Frauenholtz, Andrew (Brittany) Rysdam, Leigh Rysdam, Jill (Nick) Simmons, Jimmy Reynolds, Rachael Casey, Nathan Sayre; 20 great-grandchildren, Levi, Spencer, and Gunnar Boas, Cohen and Claire Piper, Grant Gunter, Kenzie (Carly) Goodson, Rhys and Eli Jones, Sawyer and Kherington Foster, Alexis Evans, Vanessa, Kayla and Tucker Simmons, Wynn and Beck Rysdam, Emilee and Lincoln Sayre, Ascher Kopp; one great-great-granddaughter, Josie Goodson; five sisters, Pauline Osborn of Burlington, Iowa, Ruth Enlow of Washington, Iowa, Barbara Stellinga of Burlington, Kathy Forsman of Burlington, Ronda (Larry) Richmond of Burlington; and a brother, Clifford (Connie) Grosvenor of Yuciapa, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three grandchildren, Melissa, Monica, and Chanden Rysdam; great-granddaughter, Maya Rysdam; four brothers, Richard, Leonard, Paul, and John Grosvenor; and a sister, Marsha Silck.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Donna Olinger officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Drakesville Cemetery following lunch at the Bloomfield Country Club. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials have been established to the Drakesville Cemetery and Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties.
