Furlyn Hertel (February 5, 1918 - October 28, 2006)
BURDETT--Furlyn "Tuff" Hertel, 88, died October 28, 2006 at Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center, Jetmore, KS.
He was born February 5, 1918 in Hodgeman County, Kansas, the son of George F. and Ruth Ann Warnock Hertel. He was a lifetime resident of Hodgeman County and he was a farmer and stockman.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, KS.
On August 8, 1944 he married Ruth Mary Klenke. She died October 13, 1996.
Survivors include: three sons; George Hertel, Wright, KS, Joseph Hertel, Hays, KS and Michael Hertel, Whitehall, PA; six daughters, Sister Eloise, Wichita, KS, Marcia Smith, Clearwater, KS, Anita Farrell, Valley Center, KS, Marilyn Small, Cimarron, KS, Dana Cox, Newton, KS, Sharla Canada, Bentley, KS, one sister Arlene Halling, Hanston, KS and 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three infant children, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Bernard Felix presiding. Vigil will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, 916 Main, Larned. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Hanston, Kansas.
Memorials may be sent to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Inc., P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550.
