SODA SPRINGS — Bernie Morgan Crawford, 100, of Soda Springs, passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2002, at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs. Mrs. Crawford was born Sept. 11, 1901, at Blackfoot, Idaho, the daughter of James Osburn and Mattie Elizabeth Dimock Morgan. She was raised and educated in Blackfoot, where she graduated from high school. She earned her teaching certificate from the University of Utah. She taught school in Blackfoot and Wayan.
She married Leslie Earl Crawford on Nov. 26, 1927, at Pocatello. Mr. Crawford passed away August 4, 1974. She ranched with her husband at Williamsburg Bench area in the summer and lived in Soda Springs in the winters.
She helped organize the Soda Springs Library in the 1950's and was the librarian until the late 1960's. She also helped organize the first kindergarten. She loved ranching, riding horses, gardening, creative handwork, and especially her growing family.
She is survived by one son and one daughter and their spouses, James E. and Earlene Crawford of Wayan; Phyllis C. and Rafael Ubico of Fort Collins, Colo. Surviving also are 10 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Dan Morgan, and three sisters, Ida Morgan, May Graham and Frances Roy.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at noon at the Hooper LDS Chapel in Soda Springs. The family will meet friends on Tuesday at the Hooper Chapel from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Idaho Talking Book Library at 325 W. State St., Boise, Idaho 83702-6702.
