Anita Elizabeth (Brown) McClellan, 98, passed away at the TLC Care Center in Las Vegas on April 27, 2008. At the time of her death, her three girls were at her bedside. She was born January 13, 1910, at Fort Collins, CO, the daughter of L.V. and Grace (McDavitt) Brown. The family moved to Appleton City, MO, where she graduated from high school in 1927. In 1930, she was married to Grover McClellan and they moved to Manson in 1935. Grover was an orchardist/trucker and Anita was a mother/homemaker. At retirement in 1972, they remained in the Manson/Chelan area. Grover passed away in November 1999. Anita purchased a home in The Orchard and her many friends and neighbors there were her 'rock'. In 2004, she moved to Las Vegas, NV, where she lived independently in an over 55-apartment complex and enjoyed new friends, games and social activities. After a brief illness in September 2007, Anita moved to TLC Care Center, where she became known as "The Bingo Queen." Throughout her life, her hobbies included gardening, sewing, canning, reading, journaling, working crossword puzzles and 'collecting and saving'. For ten years, she was a Campfire Leader and a 20 year Garden Club member. In her later years, she became an avid Mariner fan. As a family, we were very proud and impressed by the way Mom took charge of her life as a widow after 69 years of marriage. We loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. Survivors include two daughters, Lois (Harry) Tolmich and Judy (Ron) Richards, both of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter-in-law, Linda (Mike) McClellan of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, L.V. (Marie) Brown Jr. of Appleton City, MO; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Michael McClellan in 1991; a grandson, Cale Tolmich in 1991; granddaughter, Shana Richards, in 1981; a sister, Alice Davis, 2004; and a brother, John Harold Brown. A Tribute Service will take place Friday, May 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at North Shore Bible Church, Manson with Rev. Craig Rayment officiating. Interment will be at Fraternal Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
