Graveside services for Ida Viola Anderson, 102, Tecumseh, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Big Springs.
Mrs. Anderson died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Lexington Park.
She was born Sept. 29, 1905, in Reno, Kan., the daughter of Lewis D. and Ida M. Hicks Hodson. She graduated from Lakeview Grade School and Lawrence High School. She received a teaching certificate from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.
Mrs. Anderson taught school at Crowder Grade School in Douglas County. She was a former member of the Tecumseh Grange and the Social Service Club of Tecumseh. She was a former 4-H leader and a member of the Red Hat Society.
She married Paul A. Anderson on May 29, 1940, in Perry. He died Jan. 20, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Donavon Anderson; her parents; four brothers, Louis, Amos, Clarence and Ormal Hodson; and a sister, Phoebe Rogers.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda M. Kinney and husband Darrel, Carbondale; a son, Edward "Wayne" Anderson and wife JoAnn, Tecumseh; four granddaughters, Brenda Hogan, Lisa Nichols, Lana Meyer and Lori Meiers; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
