Linney Gene Clay

Linney Gene Clay (La-nay Ao'Pazan Can't'e), age 65, of LaBelle, MO passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at his residence in LaBelle, MO. He was born November 7, 1958, in Quincy, IL the son of Ralph Cecil and Dois Ivy Manley Clay. He was married to Karen Smith and to this union five children were born. 

Linney graduated from Highland High School and attended college for four + years; he recently went back to school and had been studying online. He spent much of his time living in St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield and the last several years in LaBelle, MO. Linney assisted his family in the grave digging business in the LaBelle area. Linney lived a happy life. He was adventurous, and always continued to educate his self. He enjoyed learning about the native American culture and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also a fan of Prince and loved the song Purple Rain among many others. Surviving are his children, Linney, Jr. Smith of LaBelle, MO, Anastashia Lashelle Smith Judson and George of Springfield, IL, Apollonia Clay of Springfield, IL, Henry Gayton of Springfield, IL, Lindsey McDowell of Springfield, IL, JaDonna Mariah Lynn Parker-Clay and Justine of Palmyra, MO and Anna Marie Dreyer of Fulton MO, grandchildren; Braydon DaKota Lee Clay and Trenton Leshawn Louis Clay, Acaishia LaShelle Cook, J'Aira Lynnea Smith, Linney Kydyn Smith III, Typonya Lynay Smith, Kaydyn Smith, Tara Lynn Rose Smith, Tysyn Klae Mast, Denver Jones, DaShai Clay, Richiya Banks, Richeara Banks, Judiah Clay, Ameer Clay, and Khalid Clay, and great grandchildren, A'Londyn and Nyomi Florence, Zion and Zymier. Also surviving are two brothers, Dwight Clay of LaBelle, MO, and David Clay and Mildred of Canton, MO.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024 in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Visitation will be start at 12 :00 p.m. noon and funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel. Pastor James Salter will officiate the services. Burial will be in the LaBelle Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Gerald Smith, Linney Jr. Smith, Henry Gayton, Braydon Clay, Nakyan Washington, and Kidn Smith. 

Memorials may be left to the Coder Funeral Chapel to be designated later. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, MO 63447.
