Afton Jones (88) passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in Antioch, CA.

Afton had a happy childhood on a farm in Rosette, Utah. She graduated from Box Elder High as the top business student, and from LDS Business College. She served in the Southern States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was there she met her eternal companion, S. Reid Jones. They were married on March 13, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. After various moves, they spent 16 years in 'Butler' (Salt Lake City) then moved to Martinez, CA in 1970. Afton and her beloved Reid, who died in Jan. 2000, spent many happy years there. Their retirement years were spent serving in the Oakland Temple, the Oakland mission office and visiting children and grandchildren scattered across the country.

Afton was beloved by their seven children: Daughters: Carma (Ross) Larrabee, who preceded her in death, Colleen (George) Winder, Louise (Robert) Tate, Lynette (Lester) LaFollette, Loraine (Carl) Hanson, and her sons Kay R.(Mari) Jones and Ronald V. (Debra) Jones. Each of her 41 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren own an afghan made by her.
