Revolutionary War Veteran ~ Son of Samuel Abell and Ellinor O'Bryan. Joseph first married Alathea Abell in or about 1783 in St. Mary's County, Maryland. Joseph and Alathea removed from St. Mary's County, Maryland to the Rolling Fork in Marion County, Kentucky prior to 1800 and remained there until Alathea's death in or about 1815. Note that Marion County was formed from part of Washington County, Kentucky in 1834. After Alathea's death, Joseph married Mary Brewer on April 30, 1816 in Washington County, Kentucky. Mary died in or about 1818 and Joseph then married his third wife Belinda (Moore) Wismatt on July 26, 1819 in Washington County, Kentucky. Joseph last appears on the record of his marriage to Belinda Wismatt in 1819. Burial in the Holy Name of Mary Cemetery is suggested but unconfirmed.
