He united with old Amish Mennonite Church in his youth, and remained a faithful member until death. On May 2, 1867, he was united in marriage to Lydia Troyer. To this union were born 9 sons and 5 daughters. 3 sons and 4 daughters preceded him in death. He leaves wife, 6 sons: Eli, Albert, Samuel, Levi, Noah, Calvin; and 1 daughter: Fanny; 36 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
