The following biographical material was provided by findagrave member Dennis Brandt:
" The son of Euclides P. & Mary Ann (Johnson) Skelton, in 1860 he was a laborer living in Lower Chanceford Township, York County, Pennsylvania. He is in the 1860 census with a first name of "Edward."
A Civil War veteran of brief and uneventful duration during the Gettysburg crisis, he enlisted June 30, 1863, mustered into state service July 3 as a private with Co. B, Stephens' Independent Infantry Militia, and honorably discharged with his company July 30, 1863.
He married Mary Elizabeth McCreary December 1, 1864, and fathered Anna Mary (b. 09/07/63), Susan E. (b. 12/02/66), Harry J. (b. 04/12/68), John M. (b. 01/21/70), Mary Alice (b. 01/04/72), Margaret R. (b. 07/01/73), and Jennie b. (b. 01/28/77). He died in Lower Chanceford Township."
