Mary Eugenia Easton, 94, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004 at the home she shared with Terry and Francis Weddle at Show Low.

Mrs. Easton was born Dec. 23, 1909 at Mill City, Oregon to Howard Paul Sestak and Florence "Flora" Queener. When Eugenia was a teenager the family moved to Salt Lake City after being converted to the LDS faith.

During WWII, Mrs. Easton worked in a munitions plant in Toale, Utah; where she supervised the transportation of munitions to the battle front. It was during that time that she was also given the task of overseeing a group of Italian prisoners of war, who were placed under her supervision at the plant. She worked closely with the military throughout those years.

After WWII, Eugenia gained employment with Los Angeles County as a social worker. A position she held until she retired at 65 years of age.

In 1953, Eugenia married Raymond Easton an English WWII hero. After 12 years of marriage Mr. Easton succomed to a terminal illness, at this time Eugenia experienced her "Grand Adventure" a trip around the world. Most of which was on a bus without a restroom.

She moved to Show Low to be near her brother, Joseph Sastak of Concho concidering Show Low to be the least "God-forsaken" of the two. However, she soon began to adore her new hometown and it's people. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Show Low second ward.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as good friends and caretakers, Francis and Terry Weddle.
