Emma Schaarschmidt Homann, 96, of Lockhart, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2005. She was born on Dec. 26, 1908 in Lockhart, Texas to Oswald and Ottillia (Muller) Schaarschmidt. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin Andreas Homann on June 13, 1966; four brothers, Oscar, Walter, Adolph and Ernest Schaarschmidt; and four sisters, Hilda Modeling, Frieda Barrington, Linda Berryhill and Lillie Schaarschmidt. She is survived by her son, Ervin Homann and wife Helen of Austin; daughter, Bonnie Raesz and husband Oscar of Taylor; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild. In addition to being a mother, sister, wife and friend, Emma was also a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ. Visitation will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2005 at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2005 at McCurdy Memorial Chapel, Lockhart. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Martindale. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Trinity United Church of Christ or charity of choice. Arrangements under the care of McCurdy Funeral Home, 105 E. Pecan St., Lockhart, 512-398-4791.
