DON CARLOS LOWE, 81, died Saturday Sept. 7, 1974 at Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs, Idaho, following a stroke. He was born 3 Dec 1893 at Coveville, Cache County, Utah to James G. and Elizabeth Kingsford Lowe. He married Manilla Gunnell 28 June 1921 at Soda Springs, solemnized in Logan Temple in March 1928. She preceded him in death 28 June 1974. Survivors one son Irel, one daughter Mrs. Jack (Beth) Hoopes, three brothers and six sisters, Cyril Lowe, Glen Lowe, Rulon Lowe, Mrs. Lucy Gibson, Mrs. Erma Woodard, Mrs. Marie Carter, Mrs. Jennie Huff, Mrs. Rhea Arbyle & Mrs. Leavitt. Funeral 10 Sep in Soda, burial in Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs, Idaho.

Don Carlos was the 5th of eleven children born to James Galloway and Elizabeth Kingsford Lowe. He had lived in Franklin and Preston, Idaho. He attended Utah State University at Logan, and married Manilla Kerr Gunnell June 28, 1921 in Soda Springs, Idaho.

In 1928 they moved to Turner near Grace, Bannock County, Idaho where he farmed until his retirement in 1967. While there, he was an active member of the LDS Church and was a High Priest in the Grace Ward.

He was a veteran of World War I and was past commander of the Albert Van Fleet post of the Amerian Legion at Grace. He received a gold certificate for 54 years of continuous service to that post.

He served 15 years on the Caribou County Draft Board, and was president of the Grace Rod and Gun Club. He also served as president of the Last Chance Canal Company of Grace. He was always active in his church and community.

Following a stroke, he passed away at the age of 81 Sat. Sept. 7, 1974. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 10, 1974, in the Soda Springs First and Fourth Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Roy Corbett officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.

Survivors were one son, Irel, of San Jose, California; one daughter Mrs. Jack (Beth) Hoopes of Soda Springs; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Cyril, of Soda springs, Glenn, of Salt Lake City, Rulon, of Lewiston, Utah, Mrs. Lucy Gibson of Grace, Mrs. Erma Woodard of Franklin, Mrs. Marie Carter of Provo, Mrs. Jennie Huff of Draper, Utah, Mrs. Lillie Leavitt of Mackay and Mrs. Rhea Argyle of San Jose, California.
