Henry B. Esty, veteran of the Civil War and one of the highly respected citizens of Reece died in Eureka, at 12 o'clock Tuesday April 14, 1908 of diabetis, aged 76 years, 2 months and 27 days.

Henry Esty was born at Canton, Mass., January 17, 1832. When quite young he removed with his parents to Lake County, Illinois.

In Lake County, Illinois he was united in marriage to Miss Eveline House. To this union five children were born, three of whom with the wife and mother survive. The surviving children are Mrs. Susie M. Vose, Gurnee, Illinois, Kinsley H. Esty of Waukegan, Illinois, and Mrs. Elizabeth H. Hock of Gurnee, Illinois.

In 1864 Mr. Esty enlisted in C.I Seventeenth Illinois Regiment Cavalry and served until the close of the war.

The family removed to Kansas in 1887 settling on a farm near Reece, where they lived until about four years ago when they moved to Reece,

Mr. Esty was a kind and loving husband and a man who won the respect of all with whom he came in contact.

The funeral services, conducted by Dr. I.C. Paugh, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Eureka, were held from the Presbyterian Church in Reece Wednesday April 15 at 2 olock. Interment was in the Reece Cemetery.
