He came to Charlestown and, subsequently, to Woburn, with his father and was married December 19, 1643, between one and two years after the incorporation of the new town. Death, May, 1658.

In 1630, when he was thirty-seven years of age, joined the large and very choice company of about 1,500 persons, who, under the lead of Governor Winthrop, landed on New England shores during that eventful year. The tradition is that James Thompson was one of the parties who landed at Salem in the early part of June. Death Woburn, Mass. 1682
