A. E. Kennington, Valley Pioneer, Dies at Age 82
Albert E. Kennington, 82, who believed he had lived in Star Valley longer than any other living person at the time of his death, passed away Tuesday March 29 at about 10 a.m. at the Star Valley LDS Hospital in Afton, of causes incident to age.
Mr Kennington who moved to the valley when about three years old, lived at his farm two miles north of Afton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, at 1 p.m. in the Afton Second-Third ward Chapel, under the direction of the Third Ward Bishopric. The body will be at the church lounge Saturday morning until funeral time, where friends many call. Burial will be in the Afton Cemetery.

Funeral Services Are Held for A.E. Kennington
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m. in the Afton Second-Third ward Chapel, with Counselor Quinn B. Cazier of the Third Ward conducting, for Albert Edwin Kennington, 82, who died Tuesday, March 29 at 10 a.m. at the Star Valley LDS Hospital in Afton, of causes incident to age. Burial was in the Afton Cemetery.
Albert E. Kennington was the last child in a family of eight born to William Henry Kennington and Annie Rebecca Seward. He was born in Liberty, Idaho June 30, 1883.
Because of the pressure placed on the polygamist families in surrounding areas, the family came to Star Valley in 1886 or 1887.
"Bert," as he was known, had lived in the valley 80 years, probably longer than any resident.
He told, with great emphasis of the hard times and sacrifices of the early pioneers. At times, and especially of late he expressed a humble attitude and almost guilt, because of the possession of modern day conveniences unknown to his parents and others who settled this valley under such trying conditions.
He was a kind, patient and complaining man who did not meddle in the affairs of others. He had a great sense of humor and spread joy and sunshine, with wholesome jokes and dry wit.
He made no demands of this life which he was not willing to work hard to earn.
Bert was known for his honesty and integrity.
Farming and dairying were his principal means of making a living, although he was a handy man and could perform in many fields as needed.
Reading church books was a great source of pleasure to him and he could discuss church principles and government and worldly subjects with those of higher learning.
He was a high priest in the Afton third Ward, and previously held various positions in the church, including assistant ward clerk. He served 42 years as a ward teacher.
On October 10, 1906 he and Stella Call were married in the Logan LDS Temple. Five children were born to this union; Theodore A., Mrs Milton (Melba) Erickson, Berlyn, Glen R., and Dale O. All survive him and live in Afton, except Dale, who was killed in World War II in Leyte.
His widow survives him, and also one half-brother Ira L. Kennington, the sole survivor of this plural marriage family.
