Lucy Viola Kennedy, daughter of Robert E. Smallwood and Nancy Elizabeth Barnum Smallwood, was born on Feb. 19, 1910, at Higden, Ark., and died at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Louise Kennedy at Dexter on Friday, April 25, 2008, at the age of 98.
Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter, a member of the Joy Club and the Delphenia Sunday School class.
She was united in marriage to Troy A. Kennedy on April 28, 1941, at Coldwater. Mr. Kennedy preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1973.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Gale Kennedy; one brother, Irving Smallwood; and two sisters, Ethel Sutton and Mable Manning.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Schellhase of St. Louis; three sons, Don Kennedy of Dexter, Roger Kennedy of Fredericktown, and Robert Kennedy of Holiday, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Dr. Steve Easterwood, Dr. Kevin Chenoweth and Rev. Richard Schellhase officiating.
Interment will follow at the Paullus Cemetery at Coldwater.
Memorials may be made to "18 Fore Life" and "FBC Media Department".
