John Blunston, of Little Hallam, Derbyshire, England is the son of William and Anne Blunston. He married Ellinor (Branton) Blunston with whom he had Sarah, Katherine, Rebecca and Martha Blunston.
His second wife is Sarah (Bickerstaffe) Blunston with whom he had John, Samuel and Joseph Blunston.
After her passing, he married thirdly, Margaret (Pullford) Steadman Blunston.

John emigrated to PA, probably before 1782, bearing a patent from William Penn for 1500 acres of land. As more settlers arrived (about 1682) John sold them parts of this land, acted as legal counsel, served as Justice of the Peace, and was a member of the Governor's Council as well as the Second Assembly. Of strong Quaker conviction, John established Darby Meeting which met at first in his home. He donated land for the meeting house and for the burial ground.
