Born August 10, 1923, in Orange County, Mr. Allison was the son of the late Eddie and Blanche Wall Allison. He attended the Orange County schools, graduating from Hillsborough High School. Mr. Allison was employed with Southern Life Insurance Company for forty-two years, where he was district manager, retiring in 1987. He was past president of the Durham Association of Life Underwriters, and had received numerous awards from the National Association of Life Underwriters.
He was a former member of Guess Road Baptist Church attending there for forty-seven years, before joining Grey Stone Baptist Church. Mr. Allison had been a member of the Durham Sertoma Club, and was a charter member of the Croasdaile Country Club. He enjoyed being involved with civic affairs, and was an avid fisherman, golfer, and boater.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-four years, Rachel Perry Allison; three daughters, Linda Ellis and husband Stan of Durham, Kay Johnson and husband Walker, and Jean Britt and husband Bobby both of Raleigh; his sister, Marie Poole of Altamonte Springs, Florida; three brothers, Lee Allison and wife Margaret of Peachland, Fred Allison and wife Faye of Durham and David Allison and wife Brenda of Bennett; three granddaughters, Alise McNeill, Shannon Rogers, and Jamie Reinheimer; three grandsons, Brian Johnson, Tim Johnson, and Blair Henley; and three great-grandchildren Sophie McNeill and Sydney and Gavin Rogers.
