Carole J. Russell, passed away Friday at her home in Manlius, NY. Her husband and family were at her bedside. Carole was a native of Concord, MA, and graduated from Simmons College in Boston, MA, with a degree in business and advertising. While growing up in Concord, Carole met and later married her high school sweetheart, Richard W. Russell. Dick and Carole were married for 50 years. After living in various New England states, as well as Washington, DC, Carole settled in the Syracuse area in 1974. Since that time, she worked for the Syracuse University Placement Office, was director of volunteers for the Volunteer Connection of the United Way, was a conference coordinator for Laubach Literacy International and held several positions with RLS Career Center. During her years in Syracuse, Carole devoted considerable time and energy to the community by serving on the Friends of the Civic Center Board, the Syracuse Stage Guild Board, the Preservation Association of CNY Board, the Landmark Theatre Board, the Arthritis Foundation Board, the SUNY Upstate Auxiliary Board, the Manlius Library Board, the Corinthian Club Board and the Carriage House Foundation Board. In addition, Carole was an active member and a director of the Association of Volunteer Services. Carole was particularly proud of the fact that her entire family was recognized in 2003 with the President's Medallion from Catholic Charities. Carole is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Richard Jr., Mark and Scott; and grandchildren, Alison, Jacqueline, Haley, Morgan, Tucker, Taylor and Harrison. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann's Church, Manlius
