Visitor Dies at Son's Home Here
Carles Rabun Giles, prominent citizen of Washington County, while en route from the Piedmont hospital in Atlanta, died suddenly Saturday at the home of his nephew, J.E. Snell, 133 Newberg Avenue.
Mr. Giles was a large land owner and a well known farmer of Washington County, where he was born and reared. He resided all his life on the family plantation within a few hundred yeards of his birth place. He was a faithful Christian, having joined the Baptist church in his early youth.
He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Lula Davis before she married; one daughter, Malissa, who is an instructor at G.S.C.W.; four sons, F.W, C.R., Jr., Valda, of Washington County, and F.L. of Milledgeville; two sisters, Mrs. M. Snell, of Macon, and Mrs. R.L. Marsh, of Washington County; three brothers, J.F., C.F., of the same county, and D.W., of Baldwin, and several nieces and nephews.
The remains will be carried to Moore's chapel, Milledgeville, Sunday morning. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the Smyrna Baptist Church.
