CLINTON, Minn. — Marie (Mrs. Roy) Nelson, 80, Clinton, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, in a care center at Clinton.

Funeral services will be Thursday in the Elim Lutheran Church at Clinton with the Rev. David Hinrichs officiating.

Burial will be in the Clinton City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Doug Nelson, Jim Nelson, Larry Nelson, Philip Lanie, Guy Wennblom and Rich Stattleman. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, the employees and residents of Clinton Care Center, the employees of Prairie Five and the employees of Ortonville Dialysis.

Visitation will be in the Larson Funeral Home at Clinton.

Marie Emeila Hein was born to Walter and Angeline (Winter) Hein June 5, 1927. She grew up in Graceville and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Graceville. She worked at the post office and at her mother's restaurant in Graceville.

June 5, 1949, she married Roy D. Nelson at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. They made their home on a farm east of Clinton where she worked by her husband's side.

She was a long-time 4-H leader and chaperone. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, eating out and was a good cook and baker. She also enjoyed raising chickens and eggs and taking care of her grandchildren and their company. She had a special love for her pets, Albert and Harley, and it was very hard for her to leave them when she moved to the Clinton Care Center.

Survivors include four children, Duane of Clinton, Robert (Pam) of Milbank, S.D., Richard of Clinton and Kathy (David) Spors of Milbank; four grandchildren; five sisters, Tess Lanie of Beardsley, Lorie (Bob) Wennblom of Graceville, Phyllis Campbell of Palm Springs, Calif., Angie (Jim) Harrington of Palm Springs and Anna Marie (Elton) Jones of Chicago; and a sister-in-law, Gladys (Marv) Howen of Dawson.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband Roy; her parents and grandparents.
