GRACE ELLA "Goldie" GULDAN--79: died Fri-day morning [3-21] at her home in Marshfield surrounded by her family under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. Grace was born on 01 Jul 1928 in Richfield Twp to Lee & Lucy Martin Hartnett. She graduated from Marshfld Senior High School in 1946. Alfred C Guldan & Grace were united in marriage on 03 Jun 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a unit clerk at StJoseph's Hospital at 4West Psychiatric Unit for 31 years.

Grace was a devoted wife and loving mother, a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, friend and the best Grandma a kid could ever wish for. All eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild were lovingly spoiled rotten by her.
Later in life when all the children were grown, her beloved doxies sweet little Mitzie and her faithful Pixie were the recipients of additional spoiling. She was a tiny little dynamo that kept our father happy for more than 60 years. And she was able to keep her kids on the straight and narrow even though they lovingly referred to her as "Shorty" Her faith was very important to her and she taught us all the great power of prayer. She always tried to be early for Sunday Mass to be a part of the morning rosary. And she was an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish Council of Women for many years. She worked for 31 years as a nursing aide and unit clerk at St. Joseph Hospital, In her retirement memorabilia there where notes and letters with comments saying: Four West could never have run smoothly without her; she could never be replaced; Four West would be a sad place without their ‘Goldie'. You mention the name "Goldie" at the hospital and there are still folks who say they remember her or they have heard of her. She left a warm lasting impression with everyone she met. She loved traveling and camping whether in the "Big Blue" tent, her little trailer, her mini-Winnie or the Big ONE (Winnebago). She made lasting friendships wherever she traveled. She was always eager and willing to give of her self and talents to help anyone in need of help or assistance. Even if it was just a kind word, smile or one of her great hugs. Alzheimer's stole her ability to verbally communicate with us, but we would occasionally be blessed with her total awareness when she looked directly into your heart and you were able to feel the love and see the twinkle in those beautiful eyes. She was diagnosed with cancer in December and suffered a great deal in her last months, but she did it quietly with grace and dignity. We will treasure her memory and celebrate her life that lives on in each one of us.

She is lovingly survived by her husband Alfred, four children, Christine Shaw, Audrey (Jack) Ably, Patricia (Gregory) Adkins and Timothy (Marilyn) Guldan all of Marshfield; four grandsons Todd (Nancy) Shaw of Colorado, Ethan (Sara) Ably of Minnesota, Adam (Emily) Ably of Wisconsin and Ben Guldan of Wisconsin; four granddaughters, Samantha Shaw of Texas, Erin Ably-June, Jessica (Eric) Bruger and Ashley (Dennis) Ludwig all of Wisconsin; seven great grandchildren, Stephanie McCain of Texas, Olivia, Abigail, Toddy Shaw all of Colorado, Grace and Jackson Ably of Minnesota, Lydia June of Wisconsin; one great great grandson, Aiden Landerous of Texas. She is further survived by her twin brother Glen (Marion) Hartnett of Marshfield and two sisters, Ruby Stargardt and Ila Haehnel both of Marshfield.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Todd Shaw, granddaughters in infancy, Grace Margaret and Paula Ann Ably, sister, Ina Haley, three brothers-in-law, Alois Haehnel, Robert Haley and Robert Stargardt.
