Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Virginia "Ginger" (Leese) Dorland, on September 5, 2003, whom he married on April 14, 1947; their son, Gary Leese Dorland, on February 17, 1996, and his parents, Leslie A. & Edna (Arnold) Dorland.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Debra D. & Jorge Lagueruela, Trinity, NC; grandchildren, Megan, Evan, & Eric Lagueruela; sister, Margaret B. Smith, Rehoboth Beach, DE, and a brother, Clark Dorland, Annandale, VA.

Mr. Dorland graduated from McKinley High School, Washington, D.C., and worked for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services for 35 years as a construction engineer. He also worked at the National Institutes of Health. He was a sculptor and enjoyed playing the piano.

Interment followed funeral services conducted on Saturday, January 20, 2007.
