Gerald S. "Jerry" Shuster, 66, of Hastings, died Saturday, April 19, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness. Gerald retired from General Motors after 27 years, when the plant closed. He was also employed by DCA. He was an avid hunter and loved his ice fishing. He was predeceased by his father, John Shuster; his mother, Geraldine Walters; and his brother, James Shuster. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra Shuster; son, Gerald; grandson, Austin; brothers, John (Linda) Shuster, Robert (Karen) Shuster and Ronald (Patricia) Shuster; sister, Susan (George) French; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In keeping with his wishes, services will be private, but family and friends are invited to a memorial 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Hastings Hotel on Rte. 11, Hastings, NY. (Adults only, please.) Farone & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
