Well Known Resident Died at His Home,

308 Neilson Street ,This Morning


John E. Bedford died at his home , 108 Neilson street this morning after a long and painful illness.

Mr. Bedford was born in Bradford , Eng.,and came to this country with his parents when a small boy and located in Paterson , N. J. Mr. Bedford was a granite cutter and worked at that trade until his health compelled him to give it up. He held a position on the canal for several years and later was janitor of the Utica Postoffice. Mr. Bedford was a patient sufferer and was brave and hopeful until the end. He was possessed of a gentle spirit and in health was ever bright and cheerful.

He was a staunch Republican. He was very very fond of all the sports of the day, especially baae ball and was a frequent patron of the local games.

Mr. Bedford was very well and favorably known having lived in this city for many years and owning to his happy disposition made friends readily.

Mr. Bedford was the seventh and youngest son of the late James and Hannah Bedford of Westerly R. I. He is survived by his wife, one son Edward, and a daughter, Irene of Utica: a brother, William Bedford, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Lord and Mrs. David Hunt , all of Hamilton, R. I.
