Douglas Ralph Daugherty, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 26, 2024 in Texas, while holding his daughter's hand. He was born on September 24, 1965 in Magnolia, Arkansas. Doug, as he was affectionately known, is survived by his devoted daughter, Taylor Salyers and son-in-law, Nathaniel Salyers. He cherished his grandchildren, Jaysen Daugherty, Abbigail Mader, and Lillianna Salyers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elenor Gail Daugherty, and his father, Ralph Edward Daugherty.

In 2023, Doug was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer, and despite being given only three months to live, he defied the odds and fought through chemo valiantly for five and a half months so he could be with his family for Christmas one last time. His strength and resilience were a testament to his unwavering spirit and determination. Doug's love for fishing and being on the lake brought him immeasurable joy. It was his happy place, where he found solace and peace. He was also a passionate fan of LSU and the Saints, and his enthusiasm for football was infectious.

Beyond his hobbies and interests, his true legacy lies in his kind and compassionate nature. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, and his empathetic ear provided comfort and support to countless individuals. His presence was a source of strength and reassurance for many, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. The memorial service to honor Doug's life on Saturday, will be a time for family, friends, and loved ones to come together to celebrate Doug's life, share memories, and find solace in each other's company.

Doug's departure has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, and the love and compassion he shared will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

A "Celebration of Life" service honoring Doug will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana at 10:30 a.m.
