Daniel Korneychuk was born on December 24, 1884 to Grigory Maximovich Korneychuk and Feodosiya Stepanovna (FAG 201361134) in the village of Kosekofke, Russia. He married Pauline Shishkowsky on January 26, 1906 at Skabiva, Russia.

Daniel and his wife, Pearl, two babies, and sister Vera, and their mother Feodosiya, aged 50, and her second husband, Romvald Shimansky, all came over to the United States together. They left Russia by sea at the port of Odessa, and then embarked on a long train excursion to the north of Europe prior to ocean crossing in July of 1909.

They lived for a year in Herried, South Dakota where Daniel worked on a section gang for the railroad until he was able to earn enough money to purchase a team of horses, two cows, some chickens, a walking plow, and some small tools. Romvald Shimansky did not like America and returned to Russia, it is believed.

The family spent a few years in Max, North Dakota where they operated a confectionery, but returned to Montana to their homestead and eventually built a nice seven room house and operated a nice farm. Vera remained in Max and married William Bostow.

Daniel named his sons Fred and George after his two brothers who disappeared back in Russia. Ivan and Peter remained in Russia, along with a sister (Vera) and a nephew Ivan Artemovich Morgatov.

Grigory Korneychuk (Daniel’s father) is buried near Ostrovsky, Stravropol, Russia and Feodosiya (his mother) is buried near the farm near Baker, Montana.

Daniel died Jan. 6, 1970 in Billings Montana. Funeral services were at the First Baptist Church in Baker, Montana and he was buried at the Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker, Montana.
