Esther Ann Rogers, 78, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, in Springerville. She was born May 5, 1937, in Herkimer, New York, the daughter of Ralph Lorenzo and Florence Isabel Johnson Lowell.

Esther was a beloved wife and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was known for her spunky personality and love for her family and friends.

She was raised in upstate New York and ventured out west as a young adult, eventually meeting her husband, Charlie, and becoming his partner for 49-½ years.

Esther showed her love for her family through food; she was a great cook.

She held various jobs throughout the years: chef at Bisbee Country Club, clerk at Triple S, foster parent and flag crew for the Arizona Department of Transportation.

She had a very big heart and loved her family fiercely. Esther was battling the onset of Alzheimer's when her heart decided it was time to go.

If you would like to share your sympathy feel free to stop by the house, W. 4th Ave., send a card or make a donation to the Round Valley Animal Rescue in Esther's name. She loved animals.

Esther is survived by her husband, Charles D. Rogers Sr.; daughters Debbie Rogers, Becky and Liza Rogers; sons Jeff Rogers, Ralph Rogers, Bob Rogers, Eddie Rogers and David Rogers; stepdaughter Mindy Green; foster son James Brooks, sisters Carol Blum, East Herkimer of New York and Gladys Mosher of Hamilton, Ala.; brothers Leroy Preston and Don Lowell, both of New York; and 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Charles D. Rogers Jr. and sisters Nellie Lowell and Lois Harrup.

A memorial service was held Dec. 26.
