Ladelle F Blevins

JULY 4, 1935 – JANUARY 1, 2024

LaDelle F. "Del" Blevins, (Ret. Navy LCDR), 88, of Pensacola, FL passed away on January 1, 2024.

He was born in Weiser, Idaho on July 4, 1935 and graduated from Weiser High School in 1953. Del enlisted in the Navy and served 4 years before returning to school and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Idaho State College. There he met his life partner, Karon June Hogue, and they were married January 16, 1960. Del returned to the Navy which took him and his family around the world where they made lifelong friendships. Upon retirement, they chose Pensacola, their favorite of all the locations traveled. Del taught High School English a few years before fully retiring. He and Karon loved trying new things, among them running the food truck Happy Snack and developing and selling the pepper relish Sweet Hot.

Del was an avid tennis and pickleball player and his love of the outdoors included fishing, camping, hunting and gardening. He was a published author, musician, rodeo announcer, and nascar fan. Some of his favorite volunteer activities were with the Grange, the Optimist Club, organizing and playing music events, and giving tennis lessons. He brought his enthusiasm and good humor to any activity he enjoyed; from the music gigs he played in to his high school reunions. Del's great sense of humor touched everyone he met and he never missed an opportunity to make people laugh. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends, meeting new people, discussing world topics, and helping others.

Special thanks to Del's wonderful caregivers during his illness, Kelly, Joddi, Dreama, and Dorothy. Their care and compassion made a difference and Del loved the company!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie Frank and Rita Irene Blevins, his sister Colleen Louise Blevins, and brother Timothy James Blevins.

Del is survived by his wife, Karon Blevins, daughter's Sheri Pope (Bill), Shelly Blevins (Lorraine Hudson), son Daniel Blevins (Amy), grandchildren Shawn Jones (Ivy), Peter Jones, Ashley Geisel, Allison Blevins, Jacob Blevins, great grandson Kenneth Terry Blevins, brother, Terry Blevins (Dee), special cousin Jackie Barton Hiatt, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
