Tommie Lee Upton, 83, of Bay Springs, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the Guardian Hospice. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. He served in World War II in the United States Navy. A Baptist, he was a retired electrician. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lillie Upton; a sister, Molly Jane Upton; a daughter, Kathy Butler; and a brother, Pete Upton. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hill Upton; a son, Tommie Lee Upton, Jr. of Stringer; step-son, Gary Lee Evans of Bay Springs; step-daughter, Linda Evans of Bay Springs; brother, J. B. Upton; grandchildren, Marla Upton of Stringer and Anna Katherine Hillman of Petal. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
