M. R. Barron Dies Monday In Local Hospital
Marvin Ray Barron, 70, died at the Banks-Jackson-Commerce Hospital early Monday after having suffered a heart attack on Saturday.
Mr. Barron was the former gas superintendent of the city but was retired.
He was born in Habersham County, June 1, 1896, a son of the late J. C. Barron and Mrs. Mary Faye Barron. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Victory Sunday School Class, a member of the American Legion Post where he served as Adjutant, and member of the Lions Club and of Hudson Masonic Lodge No. 294.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ora Inez Brown Barron, stepmother, Mrs. Dollie Barron, three sons, Harold Barron, Cornelia, Julian Barron, Greenville, S.C., and Bruce Barron, Commerce; six grandchildren; five brothers, Marior Barron, Clarkesville; Troy Barron, Toccoa, J. B. Barron, Belmont, N.C., Bennie Barron, Cornelia, and Earl Barron, Habersham County and sisters, Mrs. H. H. Lockhart, Gaffney, S.C., and Mrs. Horace Mize, Commerce.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 4 o'clock from the First Baptist Church, with Dr. J. P. Cox officiating. Interment was in Grey Hill Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.
