On February 14, 2024, Barbara Mathis (70) of Paducah, Kentucky went home to rest eternally, surrounded by love and her family. A wonderful wife, mother, sister, and nana, she will be greatly missed.


Barbara was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Thursday, July 2, 1953 to Raymond and Doris Alber. She retired as an accountant with Paxton Media Group, and prior to that, she was employed for many years with Citizens Bank. She was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time outside, especially at the beach and with her grandkids. She will be deeply missed and always loved.


Mrs. Mathis is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, James Mathis of Paducah; her daughters, Amy Fegenbush (Jeremy) of Columbus, Ohio and Bethany Farris (Thomas) of Paducah; her step daughters, Tracey Larrison (Jeff) of Lone Oak, Kentucky and Stephanie Smith (Chris) of Reidland, Kentucky; her sisters, Elaine Alber, Sharon Ruede and Beverly Burgett (Steve), all of Michigan; her grandchildren, Laken Abigail Farris, Leah Samantha Farris, Mia Cathryne Fegenbush, Aubriella Clare Fegenbush, Emmeline Paige Fegenbush and Maxwell Quinlan Fegenbush; three step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren.


Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her mother and father, Doris and Ray Alber; and her brother, Michael Alber.


Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 P.M. Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Bro. B.J. Myrick Officiating. Burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery.


Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Lone Oak Chapel.


Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center, 1530 Lone Oak Rd. Paducah, KY 42003.
