Bluefield, W Va. Nov 11. - Foster Mann Hamilton dropped dead on the street here Saturday from a sudden attack of apoplexy. Mr Bert Shumate saw him stagger and fall. Running to his assistance he found Mr Hamilton in a dying condition. He was immediately taken to his home and though medical aid reached him in a few minutes he was dead before the doctor arrived. Mr Hamilton, who was a clerk in the office of Assistant Superintendent W R Dawson, came here from Charleston, S C, less than a month ago. Mr Hamilton is survived by his wife and six children, Mrs J G Kelly, of Tazewell; Miss Kathleen, Miss Sarah, and a little daughter and two sons, Carroll and Foster. The remains were taken to Columbia, S C, for interment.

News was received here yesterday of the death of Mr Foster M Hamilton at Bluefield, W Va. The telegram merely stated that he had died suddenly.

Mr Hamilton was a native of this city, and at one time was a very popular young man. He began business life in the mercantile line, but later became chief clerk to the master mechanic of the R & D railroad shops. Subsequently he was chief clerk to P I Welles, superintendent of the Columbia division. About ten years ago he was transferred to North Carolina, where he had a similar position. Recently he went to Bluefield, where he was engaged in the railroad business.

His wife was Miss Francena Carroll, one of the most beautiful and most intellectual women in Columbia's history. Of their happy union several children were born. Mr Hamilton was a brother of Mr W D Hamilton, for many years police sergeant here.

Although the obituary does not name the cemetery, it seems likely that he was buried at Elmwood where his parents and siblings were buried.
