Drowned, in Lake Michigan, on Sunday, July 26th, 1903, Mr. Robert Carlson. From all reports it seems that Carlson with several other young men went in swimming in the lake north of Miller and was caught by the undertow and before help could get to him was drowned. Three other young men that were in swimming with him had a narrow escape and were rescued at the last moment. It seems that the undercurrent caught them and they were unable to withstand it. All were rescued but Carlson; the crews saw him but could not get to him. Up to this writing the body has not been recovered.
