Floyd Winston Cline May 29, 1921 - April 22, 2008 Greenlawn Mortuary Floyd Winston Cline was born May 29, 1921, in St. Louis, Missouri to Francis and Edith Cline. Floyd was the third son of 5 children. In August of 1942, Floyd enlisted in the Army Air Core during WWII. He served as Staff Sergeant in the 15th Air Force 723rd squadron flying B24 bombers. Floyd served from 1942-1945 where he was shot down on May 31, 1944 and held as a POW until the end of the war. Floyd received the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his dedication of service to the United States of America. After serving his country he married the love of his life Erma (Becky) Pender from Prairie City Iowa in 1948. The two moved to California in 1948 where Floyd worked as an electronics specialist at Casa Moore Furniture for 38 years. Floyd was blessed with his wife, Becky of 60 years; two children, Allen and his wife, Roni Cline, Gregory and his wife, Deborah Cline. Floyd and Becky are blessed with four grandchildren, Shanann and her husband, John Amarel, Theresa and her husband, Derrell C. Willson III, Tammara and her husband, Jeremy Newby, and Gregory Floyd Cline. Floyd and Becky are also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Delaney and Brady Amarel, Rylan Newby, and Kaydence Willson. He is also survived by his sister, Waneeta Spurgin. Floyd balanced the love of his life Becky with the love of his heart - music; which he used as a vehicle to praise his Lord Jesus Christ. Floyd served the Lord at his church home First Assembly of God in many capacities - Deacon and playing in the orchestra to name a few. Floyd's deep moral conviction and religious foundation guided him to devote his services to the Bakersfield Rescue Mission, Kern County Jail, and local retirement homes. Floyd also served as chaplain of local and state POW chapters which enabled him to remain tied to the men he served with in WWII. Above all, Floyd was a devoted husband, father, and Pampa who supported each and every one of his family members with unconditional love and acceptance. Floyd passed away April 22, 2008 at Memorial Hospital. He will be truly missed. Military interment services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26th, at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will follow at 1:00 p.m., at First Assembly of God, 4901 California Ave. Service will conclude with a reception at the church.
