David Franklin M "Tobe" Fairbanks was born in Hamilton County, Tennessee to Richard and Nancy Elizabeth Springer Fairbanks. He moved with his family to Logan County, Arkansas about 1872. On 20 October 1889 he married Letitia "Tishie" Culp and they moved to Texas. Tobe and Tishie had 4 children. Tishie died in 1902 and Tobe returned with his children to Arkansas and on 23 August 1910 he married Tiney Brice Williams and they moved to Oklahoma.
