Irene Janda, age 86, formerly of Veseleyville, ND, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, ND.


Irene Suda was born February 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Wences and Gaddie (Spale) Suda. Irene along with her siblings attended country school which was one mile east of the family farm. Irene was united in marriage to John Janda on October 6, 1959, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Veseleyville, ND. Irene enjoyed fishing, farming, and traveling with John as well as raising their three daughters. Irene and John moved to Hatton Prairie Village in May of 2021. John passed away on July 28, 2023.


Irene and John were lifetime members of St. Luke's Catholic Church of Veseleyville. Irene was very active in the altar society, choir and enjoyed teaching religion classes for many years. Irene also enjoyed baking, canning, raising poultry, ceramics, gardening and her flowers. She was a proud 60-year member of the Pisek American Legion Auxiliary.


Irene is survived by her three daughters: Jacqueline (Andrew) Korczak, Drayton, ND; Catherine (Mark) Enstad, Barnesville, MN; Loretta (Glen) Grad, Hatton, ND; eleven grandchildren: Jeremy (Kayla) Korczak, Josh Korczak, Andrea (Andy) Adrian, Christian Enstad, Leif Enstad, Emily Enstad, Donny Grad, Samantha (Brett) Kvam, Jarae Grad, Evelyn Grad, and Loren Grad; great grandchildren: Aaron, Jacob and Alexander Korczak, Adley, Ariana and Axton Adrian and baby Kvam on the way; two sisters: Bridget Votava and Edith Korynta; two brothers: Sylvester (Rullie) Suda and Rudy (Kathy) Suda. 


She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, brother and sister-in-law, Luke and Geraldine Suda and brothers-in-law: Norbert Korynta and Ermin Votava.


Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, February 12, 2024, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Veseleyville, ND. Interment will be at the St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
