It is an understatement to say that Bud experienced all that

life had to offer. To sum up his life using his own words, Bud

was a travel junky. After graduating from Lufkin High School

in 1982, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves as an M.P. and in

1984 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp where he served

until 1990. During that time, he lived in multiple locations in

California, North Carolina and abroad in Japan, the

Philippines and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Following his time

in the military Bud attended Angelina College graduating

from the Vocational Nursing Program in 1993. After

graduation he began working as an LVN, but continued his

education completing the EMS Program, the police academy.

and in 1996 he received an associate degree in criminal

justice from Angelina College. He eventually obtained a

commercial driver's license, driving for a health care.

company and an entertainment transportation company.

This change in career fueled the opportunity for him to take

advantage of traveling the country and seeing the sites while

also working. In 2004, he returned to East Texas, enrolled at

Stephen F. Austin State University graduating Summa Gum

Laude with a B.S. in Biology. Bud then decided to Join the

Peace Corp in 2006 as a community health volunteer. He

served with multiple tours in the Fiji Islands, Liberia, Bulgaria

and the Philippines. After many years of traveling, Bud

returned, once again, to Texas where he could be closer to

family. Bud was never one to shy away from a healthy debate

and sharing his opinion on almost any topic. He had an

ability to engage with people from all walks of life and he

never met a stranger.
