He was an enthusiastic volunteer at the New Hamburg Thrift Center, working in the recycling department. Orie was passionate about his hobbies and loved going to toy shows and auctions to grow his collections of model cars, trucks and buy fine China for his wife. He was an avid photographer and loved reading about various historical topics. He took great pride in attending any and all sports and activities, in which his beloved grandchildren participated.Orie's family extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lumsden, Dr. Kuk and the staff at Grand River Hospital, for the exceptional care they provided to him throughout his journey with cancer, and to the staff and volunteers at Hospice Waterloo Region, for the compassionate care they provided to him and his family in his final days, ensuring his passing was peaceful.Visitation will be held at Wellesley Mennonite Church, 157 David Street, on Friday, February 9th, from 2-4 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Wellesley Mennonite, on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at 2 p.m. Donations can be made in memory of Orie, to Hospice Waterloo Region and Wellesley Mennonite Church.
