Olympic Champion. He was an Italian racing cyclist and was an outstanding athlete in his time. He and his teammates clinched the Olympic gold medal in team pursuit at the 1960 Summer Olympics held in Rome, Italy. Following the Games, he turned professional, specializing in track events and six-day racing, and became one of the best Italian amateur cyclists in 1960. He retired in 1972 after an illustrious career. In recognition of his remarkable sporting accomplishments, he was awarded a Gold Medal by the Italian Olympic Committee. He passed away at the age of 87.
