Roye Elaine "Laney" Barnes was born July 2, 1944, in Brady, Texas to Roy Barnes and Marguerite (Sellman) Barnes.
She grew up in Brady and graduated from Brady High School.
She married Billie Liverman on December 24, 1960, in Brady. Their married life was cut short by a construction accident that took Billie's life and left Laney with two small boys.
She later married Mike Weise on September 11, 1971, in Austin. They made their home in Brady with Laney's boys and Mike's son and daughters. Later, they moved the family to Voca.
She raised Longhorn Cattle and showed them all over the United States. She was an avid gardener, always nurturing her plants and flowers. She was a very sociable and personable individual. Everywhere she went, she spoke to and seemed to know everyone. She was regularly active in her community, being a member of the Birthday Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Brady Garden Club. She loved God and was an active member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Voca. She loved spending time with her family and was a lifetime member of the Brady and Voca communities.
Funeral services for Laney Weise will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Reverend Paden Behrens officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Voca. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels.
Pallbearers will be Kooper Liverman, Zane Green, Bubba Salinas, Jacob Yoho, J.T. Owens, and Gabe Zapata.
Laney is survived by Mike Weise, her loving husband of almost 53 years; sons Todd Liverman and wife Mary Ann of Kingsland, Texas, Bobby Liverman and wife Shannon of Lampasas, Texas and Charles Wesley Weise and wife Karen of Austin, Texas; daughters Jill Renae Pool and husband Kenneth of Houston, Texas and Kimberly Ann Weise of Bastrop; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, who was killed in WWII, her mother, husband Billie Liverman and sister Jean Ann Owens.
