Alan Cross was born January 17, 1932 in Butler County, Iowa to Victor and Olga (Holmgren) Cross. He married Eunice Latterell on February 13, 1952 at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley. He graduated from Foley High School in 1950 and attended Macalester College before joining the US Navy. He served 4 years in the Navy at Lakehurst, NJ in the Blimp Service patrolling the coast line during the Korean War. Alan was an entrepreneur, starting the Maywood Forge Company making Civil War cannon replicas and Civil War action figures. He also worked for Dezurik in Sartell as a design engineer for over 30 years; Hills MaCanna in Chicago and Doering Manufacturing in Clear Lake, MN also as a design engineer. Alan was a man of many interests, including being an avid gun collector; photographer; master gardener and an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed cooking, reading and doing crossword puzzles and liked to fly kites. He was a Life Member of the NRA; Toastmaster Club of St. Cloud, held a pilots license and was a Ham Radio operator.
