Tricia Lee (Hoogendoorn) Vanden Bos was born the daughter of Nick and Minnie (Dontje) Hoogendoorn, July 31, 1934, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was the 13th of 14 children. Tricia passed away on February 2, 2024, surrounded by family at Medilodge of Westwood.

On November 7, 1952, Tricia married Allan Vanden Bos, who preceded her in death on April 20, 2015, after 62 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were her five sisters: Nellie, Jeanette, Agnita, Juanita, and Willie, along with 7 brothers Henry, Jake, Nick, Ben, Roy, Coolie and Wayne; and son-in-law Gary Selent.

Tricia is survived by her brother Jack (Ida) Hoogendoorn; children, Pam Selent, Paula (Sherman) Smeed, Ron (Wendy) Vanden Bos, and Pat (Mark) VanOrder; 10 grandchildren, Angie (Jeremy) Steed, Greg Selent, Scott (Alex) Selent, Michelle (Daniel) McClendon, Emily Bartlett, Eric Smeed, Laura (Jake) Simonds, Steve Vanden Bos, Christine (Justin) Osentoski, and Matt (Tiffany) Carpenter; 12 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Avery Steed, Wiley and Nora McClendon, Adalynn Bartlett, Sawyer and Callie Simonds, Alexandria and Charlotte Osentoski, Chloe, Ashley and Jonathan Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews.

Tricia was a long-time member of Haven Reformed Church, where she was a youth group leader, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the church choir. Most recently she had attended Calvary Bible Church.

Tricia enjoyed her job at the Family Christian Bookstore for many years. She also enjoyed camping and vacations with family and friends.

Tricia and Allan were extremely supportive grandparents who could always be seen attending their grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 3:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009, where family will greet friends from 1-3:00pm. Tricia will be laid to rest with her husband at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Tricia's name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
