Betty J Amiotte
October 30, 1941 ~ January 30, 2024

Betty Jane Wishard Amiotte passed into paradise on January 30th 2024. She was born October 30th 1941, to Pete and Dora Wishard, and was raised in the Trail City area where she attended school.

Betty attended business school in Rapid City, worked at many different places as a bookkeeper and totally enjoyed working at Elk Creek Campground, where she met and remained friends with people from all over the country.

She met and married Lyle in 1964. They lived on the ranch south of Interior and she worked at Cedar Pass Lodge for many years. Once they sold the ranch to their son and his wife they moved to Whitewood for a few years and later moved to their place in Rapid Valley.

Betty and Lyle have 3 Children and Betty also recently reconnected with her daughter in Sioux Falls.

Betty has 7 Grandchildren; Chris, 9 Great Grandchildren; and a Great Great Grandson. She was so proud of all of them. They all hold a Special place in her heart, and she loved all the time she spent with them.

Betty loved her family first and foremost and instilled hard work and the ability to overcome whatever life threw at you. She loved camping and fishing, the Indian horse relay races, throwing fake rocks at Joe and the infamous flying monkey.

Her Family Camp was the highlight of her year, getting all her family and adopted family members together in one spot at Iron Creek Lake once a year. In 2023 she celebrated 55 years of camping at this same lake where many fond memories were made, great food was eaten and lots of tall tales told around the picnic table and nightly fire.

Betty lit up the room, loved to visit and was always there to lend a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on and advise when asked. She taught us to embrace life to its fullest, enjoy opportunities as they arise, not to take things too seriously, to bravely face every challenge and to love and support one another and to never give up.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, daughter Susan (Susie) her parents, 3 brothers, a sister, and many other loved ones.

There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are Mom, you will always be in our hearts and as your new journey has begun, we know you will watch over and guide us from above and one day when we join you our Family circle will be complete once again.

A meal and gathering will be held after services at the American Legion Post 22 to celebrate the life and memories of Betty.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations will be for educational scholarships.
