After high school Don worked on a farm driving a tractor and hauling hay. He also worked at the Holyoke Enterprise Newspaper from 1959-1962 as a Pressman. In 1962 Don was drafted into the service where he went into the Army. He did his basic training in Colorado Springs, Colorado and was eventually stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina as a supply sergeant. He and Barb made lots of Army friends and stayed in touch with them for many years.
In 1964, after Don got out of the service they made their home in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Don went to work for NAPA Auto Parts. In 1966, Don and Barb started their family with the birth of Susan Lee, and in 1969 Judy Lyn was born.
Don owned Fox Center Automotive with partner Story Lynn for several years. After selling Fox Center Automotive he worked at Checkpoint Auto for many years as the parts manager. Don went to work at Summers Automotive where he would work for 29 years and finally retired at the age of 80. He was so thankful for all of the friendships he made through his years of being a parts manager.
Don was the last one in his family to die so there was a long line to greet him as he entered the pearly gates: his parents, Emil and Elnora Fisbeck, Wife, Barbara, Sisters, Doris Fisbeck, Lorena Fisbeck, Darlene and Gene Vorce, Gertie and Bud Lewis, Brothers, Herb Fisbeck, Bill Fisbeck, Leo and Elsie Fisbeck, Father in Law, Merle Bennett Sr, Brothers in Law, Merle Bennett Jr, Dale Likens, Sisters in Law, Delfa McFadden, Doris and Paul Groshans, Niece, Cynthia Fisbeck.
