She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years James (Jimmy) LeVerne Oxendine and her son, Donny LeVerne Oxendine, by her second husband Leon Locklear, an infant son, her parents, Edmond and MaryLowery Jacobs; five sisters; Eula Mae Hunt, Betty Lois (Money) McGirt, Mary Lee Jacobs, Madgie Locklear, and Peggy Oxendine; six brothers: Johnson Jacobs, Martin (Boot) Jacobs, James Jacobs, Marshall (Pete) Jacobs, Bobby Jacobs and Billy Jacobs.
She is survived by her children, Melinda Oxendine (Daughter-in-law) of Locust, NC, and Greg Oxendine (Sheila), Mike Oxendine (Leigh Whiting), Denise Moore (Rodney) and David Oxendine (Kim) all of Rock Hill, SC. Thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her loving sister Geraldine Clark of Pembroke, NC.
Her family remembers her as strong, determined, feisty, and compassionate. She valued hard work and was never still enough to let dust settle. Forget diamonds, her jewels were found at Goodwill and she held the unwavering belief that Lance Crackers held magical powers. She would never be caught without peppermints or her Revlon lipstick and would rejoice at a sale.
Every Saturday, she made her rounds, visiting her children and grandchildren, her greatest treasures. She was always proud of them and often spoke of their achievements. She loved Jesus and regularly prayed for her family with an unwavering faith. Her love of Southern gospel music always kept her humming a tune.
