Ethelyn M. Showalter, 78, died peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Hester Care of Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was born September 26, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Wilbert and Vera Lyon.

In May of 1963, Ethelyn graduated from Haven High School and later attended Salt City Business College. Then on August 31, 1963, she married Glenn R. Showalter, in Haven at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. This summer they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Ethelyn was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as a devoted farm wife. She worked for Pioneer Seeds for 20 years and First National Bank of Hutchinson with the safety deposit boxes for 23 years. Ethelyn was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Haven and some of her hobbies included painting and baking.

She is survived by: husband, Glenn Showalter, Hutchinson; daughter, Mary Clark (John), Buhler; son, Rob Showalter; sister, Barbara Crozier-Moorhouse, Wichita; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ethelyn was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Kelly; two brothers, Darrel Lyon and Garry Lyon.

Funeral service will be, 10:30 am Thursday, February 1, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Haven. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9 am to 8 pm Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, with family present from 6 to 8 pm.
